Bitter (Sweet) End

Craig Wallace Dale

Anyone who reads this magazine or visits our Web site knows that PMY employees work hard. Really hard. Our editorial staff of eight full-time editors—larger than any other marine publication’s—along with a three-person art department and two-person production department puts out 18 magazines per year; our two-person PMYTV crew is responsible for producing its own primetime cable TV show each week and delivers more boat test videos than any other marine publication. Our sales and marketing departments make sure that the PMY brand is one of the most profitable magazines in the country. Altogether this hardworking group has made PMY the number-one consumer marine magazine.

But it’s not all toil. Every year the entire group assembles to recap past performances, plot future strategies, and yes, have a little fun. This year the meeting was held in May at one of the most desirable marine destinations anywhere: the Bitter End Yacht Club in Virgin Gorda, in the British Virgin Islands.

As you will see on the following pages, we had quite a good time. We didn’t bother to show you any of the meetings and presentations, but rest assured—we did work. Honest.
