One of the fun things about attending the Cannes Yachting Festival is getting a glimpse of the amazing vessels that for one reason or another never come to U.S. shores. One such boat was the Novamarine Black Shiver 220.
On a day on the Côte d'Azur where showgoers and exhibitors battled steady downpours, the 70-footer stopped us in our tracks. Dressed in all black and powered by twin 1,900-hp diesels matched to Rolls Royce KaWeMa (now Kongsberg Maritime) waterjets, the manufacturer claims the 220 will hit a top end of 50 knots and boasts a 400 nm range at a 42-knot cruise.
The builder’s Sardinia facility and the Italian Rivera is where the gargantuan RIB makes its home. If Batman needs a statement boat, Novamarine has the Dark Knight covered.
