Commissoned by entrepreneur and scion of Italy’s Agnelli family Lapo Elkann, the boat was designed and developed by Francesco Paszkowski Design in cooperation with Baglietto based in La Spezia, and customized by Elkann’s new enterprise Garage Italia Customs. The boat features the patrol-boat style that Baglietto introduced with the MV13 prototype (read Alan Harper’s full test of her here), a design that harkens back to the builder’s history of supplying military craft to the Italian Navy. And then there’s the custom aspect, which is hard to miss: The camouflage pattern used on the boat is handpainted in five different shades and uses matte transparent lacquering, and that’s just the beginning.
I personally have been waiting to see the direction Baglietto would take with this boat since her introduction in the prototype phase. Lap1, as she has been christened, does not disappoint. And word from Baglietto is that Lap2 is currently under development. Stay tuned. It’s about to get very cool indeed.
