America’s 100 Largest Yachts 2008 #2: Octopus

#2: OCTOPUS—414'0"

There’s no way Paul Allen’s Octopus was going to host the wedding of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie (a.k.a. Brangelina) this spring, despite the breathless claims made by our celeb-rag brethren: The yacht was scheduled for a maintenance visit to a shipyard in Saint Nazaire, France. She’s been there since May and is expected to depart in November. No details have been released on the scope of the work, though photos taken by shutterbugs reveal the mast enshrouded in scaffolding. Due to the crazy nature of the rumors surrounding the yacht and her refit, one member of our Megayachts forum joked, "Didn’t you hear? Octopus is in refit so Brangelina can remove the recording studio to make room for the new children’s play area, nursery, and quarters for the nannies. This way they can visit all of those third-world countries in style."
