New Boats Notebook

We tracked down the inside scoop on what boatbuilders are up to next.

Wider 32

Announced to much fanfare at the Miami boat show and slated for a May debut, the Wider 32 is a sight to behold. If she looks to you like she is leaping out of the water—like a dolphin to my eye—that’s on purpose. Wider intended her to look like she’s eager to slice through the waves with that prominent axe bow (not a common design choice on boats of this size and type). The 32 is meant to act as either a tender for Wider’s upcoming 150, or as a primary cruiser. With 9 feet 8 inches of beam nearly throughout, as well as twin 260-horsepower turbo diesels mated to MerCruiser Bravo One stern drives, she should do just fine in either capacity.
