Koenig’s First Take:
I don’t quite know how Maritimo does it, but they have a knack for turning out really masculine-looking bruisers that are also somehow pretty as well. This boat’s no different.
Australian builders tend to produce boats that are not only seaworthy, thanks to the rough environs encircling their island continent, but also highly versatile, owing to the fact that Australian people, in my experience, are generally up for pretty much anything. And this M65 from Maritimo is an excellent example of that ethos.
The M65 can nearly do it all. Just look at the engine options. The boat can be fitted out with various horsepower Caterpillars, MANs, Scanias, or Volvo Pentas, and she can handle up to four engines at a time with some packages. The choice is yours.
Maritimo says the boat is bluewater capable (not to mention fishable) and with a range of 450 miles at 21.5 knots, she’s fast too. And the boat has plenty of space onboard to keep you comfortable on your adventures. Down below she has four staterooms including a full-beam master and a generous VIP, and optional crew’s quarters. Worth noting is that the VIP on the M65 is the same size as the master on her sistership, the M60. Up top the boat’s got an enormous enclosed flying bridge that is an excellent spot for a lot of things, though frankly I’d guess in most cases it ends up turning into one hell of a man cave.
All these cool features have not been lost on the boating public it seems, as orders for the M65 have been coming in at a good clip (five as of press time according to Maritimo’s Greg Haines). This boat looks like she will be a true success for Maritimo and one that’s well earned.
