ISA 600

Even if you didn't know that the new ISA 600 is an Italian design, you likely would have guessed it. Nearly 200 feet in length and with five decks from her keel to her flying bridge, she looks as sleek as a Formula One race car. A towering bow and deep forward bulwarks virtually disappear as they blend into the deckhouse in way of her upper deck, while elongated side windows and a modest knuckle reduce the visual heft of her forebody. Aft, her three uppermost decks cascade into a series of gentle curves, to belie the cavernous space within her deckhouse.

Her below-waterline styling is just as sweet. She boasts a prominent bulbous bow that will cut resistance and save fuel (the builder says by as much as 15 percent) and may also provide damping to reduce pitch motion in head seas. Full-figured round bilge sections throughout her midbody give way to a gentle rise at the stern, so her full-displacement steel hull can glide through the seas with minimum resistance. And when the seas stir, two pairs of active-fin stabilizers promise stability whether underway or at anchor.

Forward on the main deck, the owner's stateroom and lounge extend full beam, as does the adjoining head and dressing area. To put that into context, note that the ISA 600's beam is nearly 40 feet; thus the suite encompasses about 1,600 square feet. Guest accommodations include a VIP stateroom on the upper deck, a guest stateroom on the main deck, and four more staterooms on the lower deck, offering flexibility for a variety of situations. Also on the lower deck are five watertight bulkheads, assuring adequate reserve buoyancy and stability in the event that her steel hull is breached.

As you might expect on a yacht of this size, there are several venues for dining and entertaining. On the flying bridge, there's a swimming pool surrounded by sunpads, a wet bar, and a table big enough for ten. Highlights of the upper deck include a cinema, another full bar, and a larger alfresco area with a table for 18 guests (and another full bar alongside). For more formal occasions, the saloon and main dining area offer the most luxurious surroundings.
