Koenig’s First Take:
Who says the Americans have the center console market on lockdown? This boat makes a strong argument that the Europeans can compete for real.
Close your eyes and picture a center console. What’s she look like? How does she run? Where was she built? The answers to those questions for most would be very uniform I suspect. But the third question is where the Invictus 270FX bucks tradition. Because this center console is built in Borgia, Italy—not somewhere on the Florida or Carolina coast. But that doesn’t mean she’s not as fast, versatile, and wash-and-wear as any American build in her class.
The 270FX was designed first and foremost for versatility. She can be laid out in one of two different ways. The first configuration is primarily focused on cruising, and as such, gives the owner plenty of seating, and an optional bow table and sunshades for both the bow and the stern. However she can also be laid out as a fishing boat. If that configuration is chosen, the bench seat at the transom is replaced by a water tap, cutting board, drawers for fishing equipment, and a livewell. The fisherman’s version also offers additional stowage and salt- and freshwater washdowns. Whichever layout is chosen, there’s a full head and shower inside the console—a feature anyone, be it a holiday cruiser or a salty fisherman, can appreciate.
What’s more, the Invictus 270FX is simply a very pretty boat. She was designed by Christian Grande so you know she’s going to be sleek. But Grande also managed to imbue this boat with a certain undeniable muscularity, thanks in no small part to a wide bow that Invictus has likened to a hammerhead shark. Whether you want to take that observation with a grain of salt or not is up to you. But one thing you should definitely do is take this boat for a spin if you ever get the chance. You might just be surprised.
