We tracked down the inside scoop on what boatbuilders are up to next.
Bering Yachts is charging ahead with its new 80, a boat that sounds like she should be a really serious cruiser once she splashes this May. Bering president Alexei Mikhailov told me over the phone that the boat will be the heaviest in her class, displacing about 500,000 pounds, in no small part thanks to her 10,000-gallon fuel capacity. With that much juice onboard, Mikhailov says she’ll be able to travel 6,000 miles at an 8-knot cruise. Some truly hefty numbers being tossed around, indeed.
