Axopar 28
Koenig’s First Take:
And now for something just a little bit different, huh? This boat is so Euro it hurts—in a good way. The boxier-than-usual lines work here, and that twin-step hull should make her a blast to drive. And not for nothing, but that price point doesn’t hurt her cause either.
The Finnish-built Axopar 28 is a truly versatile boat that has a little something for everyone. Her open, walkaround deck allows for a crowd to hop onboard and scoot off to wherever their little hearts desire. But she also comes in a variety of layouts, including a cabin model that can sleep up to four, a snappy T-top version, and more, which gives prospective owners a lot of wiggle room when it comes to how they want to use their boats. Whichever way the boat is laid out, she will always have an ergonomic helm, a surprisingly large head, and lots of seating with access to the sun.
Plus the 28 has some serious get up and go. Thanks to a double-stepped hull design with a 22-degree, sharp-entry bottom that can accommodate outboard power up to 300 horses, the Axopar 28 is said to be able to hit a clip greater than 40 knots. And that’s a fun ride for anyone, especially in an open boat like this.
Another nice feature about the 28 is her price. Her base is around $45,000, and nicely kitted out you can still get her for just about a hundred grand. Not a bad deal when you consider all the options to choose from and all the fun this boat can offer.
