I was down at my marina last week helping my brother with our boat's ever-problematic genset when I heard the sound of saws in the distance. Curiosity took hold of me and I strolled over to a nearby shed. There I found the marina's mechanical guru and all-around boat genius John (the one with the jigsaw) working on his own project, his 29-foot Dyer. He decided spring would be a good time to chop off this single-crew Downeaster's house and construct a new one along with several other updates. Knowing John's work, this thing is going to look amazing when he's through. Stand by as I plan to update the refit of this classic Downeaster during my trips to the yard (probably to continue work on that genset).
