The boatbuilding world has lost one of its most well-respected family members this week with the passing of Buddy Davis at the age of 62. Davis helped bring the look of the Carolina flare to the masses over more than four decades of boatbuilding. I recall the day back in 2001 when the good captain gave me a tour of the 45 Express. For a lifelong boater and fan, it was the chance to spend time with a legend. Davis was always a gentleman and generous with his time, and would throw you a wave anytime he saw you. While we'll miss his friendly nature and boatbuilding expertise, his contributions to boating and his legacy with boaters will live on for many generations...Fair winds and calm seas, Captain.
