World’s 100 Largest Yachts 2009

Dubawi | 297'2"

A lot of effort goes into any refit, but converting a 20-year-old passenger ship that’s six decks tall and just one yard short of a football field into a private yacht is one serious undertaking. That’s exactly what Platinum Yachts pulled off with Dubawi earlier this year. Besides myriad other upgrades, the interior got a variety of marble and mosaic inlays.

The six decks are divided up into so many areas that we’d be at a loss to name them all. Suffice to say, the main entrance is on the third deck along with a lounge and cabins for the captain and chief engineer. Take the central passenger elevator down one deck and you’ll be in a dining room that can hold up to 60 guests. If you take the elevator to the top, you’ll arrive on the owner’s private deck, complete with stateroom, office, and a forward-facing tanning deck. Deck Four contains 12 guest cabins and the wheelhouse, while Deck Five holds six VIP suites and a barbeque area. And the first deck? It holds the accommodations for at least 69 crew.
