Simrad EG70 GPS-EPIRB
Simrad’s EG70 EPIRB uses a 22-channel GPS receiver to provide timely and accurate position data to prospective rescuers. Activated when its automatic hydrostatic bracket is submerged, the EG70 transmits the identity of the vessel in distress, and continues to operate for 48 hours. A manual version is available with a suggested retail price of $890.
The EG70 is buoyant and has a high-intensity LED light mounted on the top of the rugged antenna. The unit uses a nonhazardous battery pack that is International Air Transport Association (IATA) compliant for trouble-free transportation. The compact case is fully sealed and tamper proof.
The EG70 GPS-EPIRB is compliant with International Maritime Organization (IMO), Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS), and Global Maritime Distress Safety System (GMDSS) regulations, and comes with a five-year warranty.
