Switch It Up with Tab Indicators
To install the rocker switches that also show each tab’s position via red, vertically oriented actuator lights, we had to haul our Contender 35 to replace the top hinge assemblies of the trim-tab actuators with hinge assemblies with tab-position sensors in them. This was not all that difficult. The new assemblies used the same bolt pattern as the original, but we had to add one through-transom hole per assembly for each actuator’s two-conductor wire. The trickiest part of the job on our outboard-powered test bed turned out to be reaching the wires inside the transom.
