|An Award-Winning Year — November 2003|
PMY staff was recently bestowed both a design award and a writing award.
Art Director Aimée Colon and Designer Doriot Kim received an Ozzie Award from Folio:, the magazine targeted to publishing executives, designers, and editors. The Ozzies honor excellence in magazine design and are highly competitive. PMY’s April 2003 cover (right), featuring an exclusive photo of the Riva Rivarama 44, was nominated for Best Cover in the 100,000 to 250,000 circulation division. The entry, judged alongside ones from magazines as diverse as Bon Appetit and Bloomberg Markets, received Honorable Mention.
In addition, Executive Editor Diane M. Byrne received the 2003 Clarion Award for Magazine Feature Article, External Publication (circulation category 100,000 to 500,000) for her story “Baby Onboard,” about a longtime boater who made his classic Hatteras baby-friendly without compromising the boat’s traditional nautical appeal. The article appeared in the September 2002 issue. The Clarion Awards is an international competition created by the Association for Women in Communications, in which entries are evaluated for content, style, achievement of objective, and originality.
