We tracked down the inside scoop on what boatbuilders are up to next.
In New Gretna, New Jersey, the Viking worker bees are busy building the company’s new 92 Convertible, which we covered back in October 2013. Viking marketing chief Pete Frederiksen says the hull is in the mold and installation of the stringers and some bulkheads has begun. That’s exciting stuff for Viking. With the 92 they’re trying to meld a hardcore fishing experience with the posh yachting lifestyle. The boat, which is planned to debut at this year’s Lauderdale show, has 23 feet of beam that, for one thing, allows plenty of room in her cockpit and mezzanine area for multiple hookups, and for celebratory Coronas back at the dock.
