Miami 2014 Guide

Whether you’re looking to tackle the tournament circuit in style with a battle-ready convertible or you’re more into the wind-in-your-hair, rough-and-ready, center-console style of boating, the Miami shows have you covered. With new launches and debuts from builders far and wide, there’s no shortage of boats to choose from for those who have made sportfishing their passion.

The latest launches from Viking, the 42SC (sport coupe) and the 42ST (sport tower) will be on the docks. These two may be smaller than some other Viking models but they have the same attention to detail and passionate performance that their big sisters have.

As one of his first tasks, designer Robert Ullberg recently modified the ride on the Bertram 54. This serious sportfishing boat is designed to catch big fish and manage big seas with ease.

Spencer Yachts will debut the 87-foot convertible Bangarang at this year’s show. This is a big-time sportfisher that will top out at 45 knots thanks to twin 2,600-horsepower MTU M94s, according to the builder.

The fully custom, 67-foot Lisa K from Paul Mann boasts the exceptionally clean 1,925-horsepower Caterpillar C32 Tier 3 ACERTs. Folks will be building on the clean technology in those engines for years to come.

The Bonadeo custom 34 Walkaround should attract lots of attention with her sharp lines, exceptionally sturdy construction, and obvious attention to onboard detail.

Boston Whaler is expanding their DAUNTLESS line with the 210 and the 240. Either boat can be kitted out for family fun or rigged for serious fishing.

An all-new version of the Regulator 23 will be making her debut this year at Miami. The pocket-size center console sports a fully flush deck and a single, 300-horsepower Yamaha mounted on an Armstrong bracket.

Miami-based Deep Impact doesn’t have far to travel to bring its new 39 Cabin out to play. Look for this stylishly lined burner to attract a crowd.

SeaVee is bringing a gang of new boats to Miami, including the 320Z, which will be making her debut. That boat has SeaVee’s patented twin-stepped hull, which helps with acceleration, handling, and tracking. The new 390Z and 390 WALKAROUND will also be on hand.Viking 42 ST
