Delta Powerboats 54 IPS

Delta Powerboats 54 IPS

By and large, Sweden is known for a few awesome things. Meatballs: Who doesn’t like meatballs? Vikings: The original nautical badasses. And supermodels: Yes, please.

Now Sweden has a new product that’s going to complement its other accomplishments quite nicely—namely the Delta 54.

Delta claims the 54 is the first serially produced yacht with a carbon-fiber hull. Carbon fiber, as anyone who has kept an eye on boatbuilding trends over the past few years will tell you, is extremely strong and also extremely light. As such, the Delta enjoys bullish strength, but is also 30 percent lighter than some of her competitors.

What’s more, the boat enjoys some very distinctive lines. She looks almost like a modern take on a commuter boat, and consequently, will definitely stand out at the docks or moored at your favorite cay.

The Delta 54 comes equipped with either two or three Volvo Penta IPS600s, so she is highly maneuverable both at speed and when docking. With the twins, she reportedly tops out at a fairly pedestrian 30 knots, however with the trips, she flirts with the magic 40-knot mark, which must make for one exhilarating ride.

Indeed, after all is said and done, Sweden’s big three may need to make room for another great one.
