Instead, tiny FME connectors snake through tight openings and screw together. Unfortunately, though, FMEs are only compatible with RG-58/U coaxial cable, good for only short runs. So instead, we ran 26 feet of RG-8X coax from the tower to the booster.
“Be careful stripping that stranded center conductor,” Hart warns. “If you break even one strand, the pin won’t crimp tightly around the wire.” Pull the pin to check it, and use a multimeter to ensure the center pin and outer shield aren’t touching and therefore shorting out.
