Hot on the heels of the company’s successful 80 model, Pershing’s newest launch, the slightly elongated 82, looks to push all the boundaries of what a large sport yacht can do. Aggressively raked lines create a profile that leaves little doubt as to the 82’s main purpose: to be the sexiest, sleekest boat on the water. Not to mention one of the fastest. Two burly MTU 16V-M93s matched to Searex SR140S surface-drives will rocket this boat across the waves at upwards of 45 knots.
Another feature of the boat’s elongated superstructure is the introduction of a sundeck with a retractable platform—sure to be an enviable entertainment hot spot. The sundeck will feature a helm, twin chaise longues, sunpads with fold-up backrests, and a minibar. The space is accessed via the cockpit by a carbon-steel staircase that drops electro-hydraulically to connect the two decks.
That cockpit is a nearly ideal spot to dine alfresco since it will be equipped with a mobile bar, barbecue, and a fiberglass dining table. This all will sit atop a spacious aft garage with a folding bottom designed to make loading and unloading tenders and PWCs that much easier.
Indoors, the 82 will feature a typically European design, with the galley set apart so the crew can cook without disturbing the passengers relaxing on the multiple sofas situated in the saloon. Four staterooms on the accommodations deck will beckon sleepy guests. The most enticing of these cabins is, not surprisingly, the amidships master, which will feature leather furniture designed by Poltrona Frau as well as expansive windows that drench the space in light. Suffice to say, when this boat splashes in June, the bar stands a very good chance of being raised.
