Sessa Marine Fly 40

Sessa Marine Fly 40With its new Fly 40 model Italian boatbuilder Sessa Marine looks to continue the success of its previous launch, the Fly 45, in the midrange cruiser market. Slightly smaller than her predecessor, the 40 has multiple entertainment areas that can handle a crowd. Sunpads on the bow offer a perfect place to soak in some rays, and the shaded cockpit is an optimal spot to sip an iced tea while you cool off thanks to its “stern window,” which is an awning that can be lowered or raised depending on the amount of privacy desired. A spacious and ergonomic flying bridge features more sunpads, an L-shape lounge, and a teak table for up to eight guests. The captain mans the wheel from a double helm seat whose panoramic sightlines he’ll surely appreciate.

The owner can retire to the en suite master that boasts ample headroom. A guest cabin provides private space for friends and family, while a convertible sofa in the saloon makes for another comfortable and accessible place to bed down. The 40’s luxurious galley benefits from a large skylight and features a 44-gallon fridge, a Miele combined electric oven, and plenty of stowage. A washing machine greatly amplifies this yacht’s cruising cred.

Sessa powered its newest launch with IPS drives, in part for their maneuverability but also because of the reduced fuel consumption, carbon emissions, and noise level associated with pods. When synched with four-cylinder common-rail D4s the boat should top out somewhere around 35 mph while maintaining a cruise just under 30 mph. Those speeds, coupled with the 40’s comfort and efficient use of space, should keep Sessa’s customers coming back for more for years to come.
