MTU will present its new yacht engine series 2000 CR to the U.S. market at the Miami International Boat Show. The eight- and ten-cylinder models will be rated at 1,200 and 1,500 hp, respectively, and 12- and 16-cylinder models will follow; no information on the latter two engines was available at presstime. The company reports that the power density of the new 10V 2000 CR will be equivalent to its current 12V 2000.

The series uses common-rail injection and features a higher-pressure turbocharger system that forces more air into the combustion chambers. It’s also equipped with a new electronic governor that, together with the new injection system, should ensure improved combustion, reduced exhaust gas emissions, and lower fuel consumption.
