John Deere, the company known best for farm equipment and lawn tractors, is now in its third year of marine diesel manufacturing and has increased the maximum horsepower rating of its 12.5-liter displacement 6125AFM from 475 hp to 525 hp. The engine is electronically controlled, turbocharged, and aftercooled. Also noteworthy is that John Deere has an entire engine lineup that meets EPA Tier II emissions requirements ahead of the mandatory January 2006 deadline. Additionally, the company is now integrating electronic control panels so yacht owners can better monitor the status of their engines and detect problems.
