Bombardier brings several new models to its E-TEC line, including a 90-hp. As with all E-TECs, the 90 uses a stratified combustion chamber, which allows fuel to reach the exhaust port only after it has closed, so no unburned fuel escapes into the atmosphere, especially at idle. The company says the chamber’s design results in better fuel economy, lower emissions, and no scheduled maintenance for three years. The engines are also touted as being compact and lightweight. On the other side of Bombardier’s engine lineup, Johnson comes in with five new outboards: 9.9-, 25-, 30-, 200- and 225-hp four-strokes. Both the 200 and 225 are 55-degree V-6s with dual overhead cams and four valves per cylinder, as well as a 5000- to 6000-rpm WOT operating range. The 225 can be ordered with either 25- or 30-inch shafts, while the 200 is available only with a 25-inch shaft. Both engines feature 54-amp alternators. The 225 comes with multistage induction and is CARB three-star compliant. All Johnson four-strokes offer multiport EFI sequential fuel injection. Evinrude Phone: (866) EVINRUDE. www.evinrude.com.
