The other Swedish engine manufacturer has a new 16-liter V-8 that replaces the company’s 14-liter model, the SI14M, which will be phased out at the end of 2002. The new engine, the DI16M, comes in commercial ratings of 500 to 800 hp, but the company says it is planning a high-output pleasure version some time in 2003. Although known primarily as a commercial supplier, Scania says it recently installed pairs of its 675-hp 12-liter in-line sixes into a Princess V50 and Sealine T48. (210) 403-0007.
