ACANIA
126'0" 1929 Here's
your chance to acquire a piece of history for $395,000. This classic fantail
motoryacht, located in the Seattle area, was once owned by silent film
actress Constance Bennett. During World War II and for 40 years thereafter,
the U.S. government used Acania for a variety of things, including tracking
Apollo spacecraft. A private owner purchased her in the 1980s and refitted
much of her interior and machinery. B: Pusey & Jones, USA;
N: J. H. Wells; H: Steel; E: unknown

BIG EASY
126'0" 2001 For
about two weeks an American used this cockpit motoryacht as Algorithm,
but Felix Sabates, co-owner of Trinity Yachts, apparently made him an
offer he couldn't refuse and bought the yacht. She's now known
as Big Easy in honor of the town where she was built. B: Trinity Yachts,
USA; N: TK; H: Aluminum; E: 2/1,400-hp Caterpillars

EMERALD ISLE
126'0" 1992 This
yacht was known for having emerald tones throughout her interior. While
the decor has changed some, you can still find greens in various rooms.
She's cruising this winter in the Caribbean. B: Christensen Shipyards,
USA; N: Builder; H: Fiberglass; E: 2/1,080-hp Detroit Diesels

LADY ALLISON
126'0" 1978 Leonard
Stern, chief executive of pet-food company Hartz Mountain Corp. and a
major developer of the Meadowlands Sports Complex in New Jersey, named
this yacht after his wife. B: Feadship/De Vries Scheepsbouw, Holland;
N: H.W. De Voogt & Zoon; H: Steel; E: 2/650-hp Caterpillars

LA MONTRACHET
126'0" 1986 Here's
another yacht that will be spending the winter exploring the tropical
waters of the Caribbean. Instead of having a staircase off to the side
that leads to the guest staterooms below, La Montrachet has it amidships
in the saloon. B: Broward Marine, USA; N: Builder; H: Aluminum; E:
2/1,350-hp Caterpillars

MARLENA
126'0" 1998 Visitors
to Long Island's East End have gotten a good look at Marlena over
the past few years, since she spends considerable time in Montauk. Sam
Gershowitz, the New Yorker who owns the Star Island Yacht Club in Montauk,
is selling this huge yachtfisherman for $8.9 million. Unlike some large
yachts that are styled this way, Marlena was intended to go after big
game--but she also caters to family cruising, since Gershowitz has
grandchildren who've been aboard. B: Trinity Yachts, USA; N:
Builder/Doug Sharp; H: Aluminum; E: 2/3,500-hp Alsthom Paxmans
157.
TIME
126'0" 1987
Time has had the
same owner, from Chicago, since launch. A major refit six years ago entailed
the installation of a hydraulically operated flying bridge access hatch
that opens or closes at the push of a button. She cruises at 26 knots
and has transatlantic range. Time is also for sale for $5.49 million.

few years ago. She can be seen on Long Island's East End. B:

CENTURION
125'0" 1992/1997 Centurion

the West Coast for Mexico. She'll charter in those waters for $70,000
per week before heading to Costa Rica and Panama next spring. B: Delta
Marine, USA; N: Delta Design Group; H: Fiberglass; E: 2/760-hp Caterpillars

DONNA C III
126'0" 1999 You
may have seen this lady fishing along the West Coast. Last year some of
the owners' family who were onboard encountered an interesting catch
off Cabo San Lucas: a tightly sealed package of marijuana. Thankfully
they determined they weren't in the midst of a drug deal and quickly
notified the U.S. Coast Guard. The agency later told them the package
had a street value of $500,000. B: Sovereign Yachts, Canada; N: Jack
Sarin Naval Architects; H: Fiberglass; E: 2/1,800-hp DDC-MTUs
161.
FIFTY ONE
125'0" 1991 If
you take a picture of this yacht, inform the film developer that her color
should not be adjusted to appear white--Fifty One, which was in the
Med in late summer, is actually a creamy, vanilla tone. B: Christensen
Shipyards, USA; N: Carlo Pagani; H: Fiberglass; E: 2/860-hp Caterpillars
162.
KAKAPO
125'0" 1977 This
was the largest American-owned aluminum-hulled motoryacht when she was
built. While she doesn't hold that distinction any longer, Kakapo
is still a standout. Not only did Jack Hargrave design her with steel
fire doors and fireproof walls for her original owner, but he also oversaw
a refit in the 1990s for the current owner. That same owner is about to
take delivery of a 156-footer from Palmer Johnson (see no. 60), and while
Kakapo had been for sale for a while, he's decided to keep her after
all. B: Burger Boat Co., USA; N: Jack Hargrave; H: Aluminum; E: 2/725-hp

CLASSIC 125
124'10" 2001
"Classic"
is an apt adjective for this new launch, since her styling is reminiscent
of an early-20th-century yacht. She features an equally classic cherry-wood
interior by François Zuretti. Her New York owner reportedly will
cruise southern climes for the next few months before heading to the Med.

canoe-stern yacht has had the same name since the day she launched, even
though she's had more than one owner during that time. B: Feadship/C.
