Rode along on
the boarding of a small freighter coming down the river that leads to
Umm Qasr, the big port town in Iraq. The captain, with his big, thick
glasses, reminded me of a friend of mine from Boston. The Coast Guard
is patrolling this river looking for any escaping Iraqi leadership and/or
Al Qaeda terrorists. This freighter was fine though. Kuwaiti flag. Iranian
crew. Smiles all around.
Boats that bring efficiency over a range of speeds are appealing to today’s coastal cruiser. Those with style and a bit of panache are sure to have their own admirers. The Absolute 52 Navetta will certainly fall into both categories.
