EyeOnBoard uses cameras and sensors—for battery status, bilge-water levels, water depth, wind speed, intrusion alarms, and much more—to continuously monitor a yacht, collecting the information in an onboard computer and then sending it via WiFi to the company’s servers, where an owner can view it with a Web browser. The real-time data flow is also minded by a 24/7 response center that knows who to contact if there’s a problem. When onboard, the owner has access to the same handsomely presented monitoring info and also to the high-speed Internet connection—even wirelessly inside the vessel, via a second, internal WiFi network—and the response center is available to help with PC and system issues. EyeOnBoard starts at about $25,000 for an 80-foot vessel, and the company is adding SkyMate and Inmarsat compatibility for those times when the yacht’s spot is not hot.
