The photo (right) shows scenes at a boat show—not in an engine room, aft deck, foredeck, etc.—but the idea is evident. Simon C is a PC-based, multichannel camera-control system and digital recorder designed for yacht monitoring and security. You can operate pan-and-tilt cameras when viewing in real time and also have each camera record continuously or based on individual motion-detection parameters. The video feeds are turned into 30 fps (frames per second) .mpg files and are high enough resolution for what the company terms “identification-quality playback with full-feature recognition of any crew person or intruder.” Simon C is compatible with existing onboard PC networks, not to mention Palladium’s own system-monitoring (Simon) products. A $3,295 four-channel system includes software and server but not cameras, and up to 16 channels are possible. Palladium Technologies ( (954) 653-0630. www.palladiumtechs.com. |
