you’re familiar with Newport, you may have been to Clarke Cooke House—this
is its more casual downstairs cousin. Munch calamari or a Candy Store
burger between breaths of salt air. Claim
to Fame: America’s Cup crews bend elbows here. Crab
Claw Tie
up at its dock in St. Michaels Harbor. This Eastern Shore fixture features
outside tables. Inside, the walls are festooned with nautical baubles
and pictures of famous patrons, from Baltimore Orioles players to Richard
Dreyfuss. Claim
to Fame: crabs, crabs, and more crabs. Try Maryland blue crabs or the
crab cakes, voted Best in the Country by Food & Wine magazine. Coinjock
Marina and Restaurant The
servers’ Southern drawls and the ample portions of home-cooked side
dishes confirm this may be the friendliest stop on the ICW. Claim
to Fame: the best and biggest steaks (try a 32-ounce prime rib) on the
