Knots So Easy By Capt. Patrick Sciacca — January 2003 |
||||||||||||||||||||
Some parts of the country (like mine) have a short boating season, and the time between seasons can feel like one endless night. One way to pass the long winter months and still stay connected to boating is to practice knot tying. If you have a PC, here’s a CD-ROM that will give you step-by-step instructions on tying all the important knots. “Knot Tying: The Basic Knots” from Beutner Multimedia costs $24.95 and provides details on how to make 21 boating-related knots. Demonstrated by author/project manager Capt. Dave Guldin, they include the bowline, anchor bend, sheep bend, alpine butterfly, and more. The CD is available directly from the manufacturer and even comes with a practice line. Beutner Phone: (740) 597-1409. www.beutner.com.
