As an advocate of safety on the water at all times, I don't believe that the wearing of a PFD should be limited to children. But I have to concede that most life-saving devices aren't very comfortable and wearing one of the traditional orange ones or jacket-style versions makes maneuvering difficult.

SOS's Coast Guard-approved World Class Pro Series PFD SOSPENDERS encourage comfortable safety at all times for boaters. It features an "open" design, which is much cooler and more comfortable than most traditional life "jackets" or foam vests. It's also less bulky, since it inflates only after you pull the auto-inflate cord or manually inflate it via the back-up oral inflation tube. It's intended for people weighing more than 80 pounds and comes in long- and short-torso sizes. The PFD features reflective strips and ranges in price from $110 to $190. Contact the company for a SOSPENDERSs dealer near you.
