Considering it’s small enough to fit inside an 8-kW SoundGuard, Westerbeke’s 12.6-kW Mini 13 sure is a giant. The Mini is said to outperform larger gensets; it boasts three cylinders and a low rpm of just 1800, which helps reduce noise and vibration while increasing fuel efficiency and reducing wear. It also features many impressive built-in standard features that make servicing and accessing the genset’s parts a bit easier. For example, the sea-water pump is on the front of the engine, while the PTO interface is designed for simple installation of electric or hydraulic pumps for thrusters, air conditioning pumps, windlasses, or even emergency systems.
