A Safe Step Up
By Elizabeth Ginns Britten — July 2004
I don’t usually get terribly excited about ladders, but Garelick’s EEz-In II ladder system is an exception. This ladder stows in and easily deploys from a small, rectangular opening in your boat’s hull. When you’re ready to use it, simply release the lock and let the ladder slide out (although you do have to unfold the vertically aligned steps). It’s perfect for use at a moment’s notice during an emergency or even recreationally, for swimming.
The EEz-In II is made of lightweight anodized aluminum, is available in a three- or four-step configuration, and can reportedly support up to 300 pounds.
It retails for $399 and has won a few awards, including the Product Innovation Award from the National Marine Manufacturers Association at the 2003 IBEX trade show in Miami, Florida. Call Garelick for a list of boatbuilders currently offering the EEZ-In II as optional equipment or to discuss installation and/or retrofits.
