Portable Player By Elizabeth Ginns Britten — May 2005 | ||||||||||||||||
The MP120, this neat gizmo from Oregon Scientifics, is said to be the first fully waterproof (to a maximum depth of three feet) MP3 player on the market. The rugged, shockproof pendant design features a rubberized finish to protect the MP120 from banging and pounding. A slot on the back lets you attach a strap for your arm, and the standard headphones are also waterproof. The MP120 packs 256 MB of internal storage (that’s enough for eight continuous hours of music) into its palm-size package. It also has an FM radio with 30 preset channels, five preset equalizer modes, a USB drive, and a built-in, rechargeable battery with ten hours of battery life. Plus, it comes in six different languages. The MP120 shown retails for $119; the 112-MB and 512-MB versions retail for $99.95 and $169.95, respectively. They’re available on the company’s Web site.
