Felix Sabates, co-owner of Trinity Yachts, commissioned this yacht as Victory Lane, the name he gives all his big boats. But he sold her last summer to a Floridian gentleman who's owned a few big boats himself. Feadship and the owner of this yacht should be celebrating her christening around the time you read this. We hear the owner is a woman, a rarity in the yacht biz. Another surprise is the fact that Andiamo is an expedition yacht, the first of her kind from this Dutch yard. Unlike some expedition yachts, this one has a hull strengthened for navigation in ice. 120. HIS GRACE 138'0" 1991
On display at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, His Grace has an interesting story. Construction began at Westport Shipyard in the late 1980's, and she was delivered in 1991 about 50 percent complete to her original (and current) owner. Since he has an engineering background, he apparently decided to finish the yacht with the help of a marine surveyor; the work took two years and included everything from installing marble and windows to performing electrical work and selecting bath fixtures and other decor items. Throughout most of the past decade, the owner was unable to use the yacht due to other business interests, yet he continued to have His Grace upgraded and maintained. In 1998 Admiral Marine Works extended her eight feet (to her current length) and repowered her with her current engines.
