31. GALLANT LADY
| L: 172'0" Y: 1995
Jim Moran, America's
first Toyota importer and one of the most successful marketers in the
auto business, and his wife Jan delight in entertaining other entrepreneurs
aboard this yacht, one of literally dozens they've owned over the
years, and all of which carried the same name (no "II" or
"IV" or whatever after "Lady"). If you're
not an entrepreneur but still wish to "experience" the yacht,
you can do so by purchasing the official Gallant Lady calendar,
which shows the yacht in various scenic ports worldwide, through the Youth
Automotive Training Center in Deerfield Beach, Florida, that Jim Moran
founded. (Check out www.yatc.com/contributions.asp for information.) B:

32. TAIPAN |
L: 172'0" Y: 1982/1998
If you've
seen the Jackie Chan flick Rush Hour II, then you'll recognize
this beauty; she was called Red Dragon in the film. Shooting took place
in the Maldives, and according to the Monday Times newspaper in that country,
the producers spent about $1 million to redecorate her for their purposes.
After filming was done, the yacht went back to her busy cruising schedule--and
her original look. We hear she spent this past summer in Croatia, which
is thankfully regaining some popularity on the cruising circuit. B: CRN,

33. BATTERED BULL
| L: 170'9" Y: 1995
Here's
a yacht-owning couple that apparently thinks the world is so nice they
traversed it twice--and they're about to head off on their
third world cruise. She's visited such diverse places as Papua New
Guinea and Myanmar, in 1999 becoming the first private yacht to visit
the Myanmar capital of Yangon. Earlier this year she was in Auckland,
New Zealand. B: Feadship/Royal Van Lent Shipyard, Holland; N: De Voogt

34. RASSELAS
| L: 170'7" Y: 1994
Yet another Feadship
that's circumnavigated the world, Rasselas is a classic beauty
inside and out. One of our favorite rooms: the sky lounge, complete with
game tables. B: Feadship/De Vries Scheepsbouw, Holland; N: H.W. De Voogt
Naval Architects; H: Steel; E: 2/1,280-hp Caterpillars
35. SOLEMATES
| L: 170'7" Y: 1998
We hear Solemates
is one of the most popular charter yachts available. She'll be cruising
the Caribbean this winter, so you can check her out yourself for $210,000
plus expenses per week. What do you get for that? A terrific crew, a stunning
master stateroom that has a zodiac design on the wall opposite the bed,
and a music library that contains 600 CDs. Just be careful what footwear
you pack for your trip--her owner is the head of a major sneaker
and footwear company. B: Feadship/De Vries Scheepsbouw, Holland; N: H.W.

36. KISS THE SKY
| L: 170'6" Y: 2001
Designer Patrick
Knowles and Rybovich Spencer redid the interior of this yacht over a six-
to seven-month period, since she changed hands shortly after delivery.
Judging from the handful of details Knowles has given us, the yacht must
look spectacular. We can't wait to see the master suite, particularly
the "her" head, which is aft ("his" is forward).
It was expanded to consume a guest suite farther aft (including its head),
and the newly formed head was enveloped in cappucino onyx with deep bevels
floor to ceiling. Kiss the Sky also sports a new walnut interior,
a good deal of hand-forged wrought iron, and, to quote Knowles, the "finest
silks, wools, everything," all flame-treated so the yacht could
meet MCA safety requirements. B: Amels, Holland; N: Builder; H: Steel;

37. JAMAICA BAY II
| L: 168'0" Y: 1986
Jamaica Bay
II spent the summer cruising in New England. She's likely en
route to the Caribbean as you read this and will ring in the new year
in the playground of the rich and famous, St. Barts. Among the stops planned
for next year: Venice. She charters for $165,000 per week. B: Schweers,
Germany; N: Diana Yacht Design; H: Steel; E: 2/1,445-hp Caterpillars
38. ENTERPRISE V
| L: 168'0" Y: 1992
The
blue-hulled beauty that entertains numerous members of the Amway Corporation
every year also hosts private cruises for company founders Rich DeVos
and Jay Van Andel plus their families. Since her delivery she's
gone back and forth between Europe and the Caribbean about half a dozen
times. It's interesting to note that DeVos and Van Andel started
the business in their basement. Another interesting fact: They also own
a sailing yacht. B: Feadship/Royal Van Lent Shipyard, Holland; N: De Voogt
Naval Architects; H: Steel; E: 2/1,175-hp Caterpillars
39.
BEAUPORT | L: 168'11" Y: 1960/2002
Beauport
was built as a sounding vessel for the Canadian Coast Guard, complete
with heavy plating on her hull for navigating in ice. She's since
been converted into a yacht, although not a lavish one, which may explain
why her owner is offering her for sale for just $2.5 million. Interested
buyers, take note: She carries two 30-foot fishing tenders and has a helicopter
landing pad. In addition, the wheelhouse comes complete with a telegraph
and huge wooden wheel, the two of which give the yacht the appearance
of having stepped out from another time. B: Davie & Sons, USA; N:
Builder; H: Steel; E: 2/640-hp Fairbanks Morses
40. HAIDA | L:
168'0" Y: 1947
A Texan is having
this classic yacht, originally built for Hollywood director Max Fleishman,
extensively refitted. Some of the work entails reinstating the yacht's
original stack and interior decorative wood moldings. B: Bath Iron Works,
USA; N: John H. Wells; H: Steel; E: 2/1,000-hp Enterprise diesels
