This 55-meter (180-foot) project came to the drawing table thanks to a long-time Benetti owner who was looking to move up in size from his 50-meter (164-footer). He wanted a full-displacement (the former was semidisplacement) yacht with a similar Stefano Natucci-designed profile, but with a private lounge/sitting area next to the owner’s suite on the foredeck. The owner was involved in all aspects of the yacht’s design, from her conception and layout to the choice of woods, fabrics, lamps, and other decorative touches. His one stipulation was to use a decor scheme similar to his previous yacht.

Thanks to Natucci, Amnesia’s interior designer, this goal was achieved, as the newer yacht features the same fine cherrywood, marquetry inlays, and Alcantara (a kind of marble) panels featured on the 50-meter. Being a Lalique aficionado, the owner naturally chose crystal from his own private Lalique collection (another theme carried over from the smaller vessel), including accents for the lamps, tables, faucets, and barware.

One of the more noteworthy spaces onboard is the huge (almost 450 square feet), full-beam, two-room owner’s suite located forward on the main deck. Half of the area is devoted to a king-size bed, a “his” bathroom with shower, and a “hers” bathroom with Jacuzzi and a trompe l’oeil mural by a Tuscan artist. The other half features a panoramic sitting area—bigger than some saloons—with a sofa facing forward that offers ocean views. The private sitting area is accessed from the sleeping area via a private staircase and is the perfect space for quiet, uninterrupted relaxation away from everyone else onboard; the area can be separated from the cabin by four sliding doors.

You can experience this sense of escape yourself, as Amnesia is available for charter in the Med during the summer months, the Caribbean during the winter months, and is, as her builder says, an “ideal place to relax and indulge.”
