In this second part of a series of golfing for cruisers, I'll share with you some of the better opportunities that the waterways from Maine to New Jersey offer. And since all these facilities either border or are within a short taxi ride from local marinas, transportation to and from each course can be easily arranged through the dockmaster. MAINE • Bob Elder designed the 6,018-yard, par-70 Samoset Resort Golf Course Phone: (207) 594-1431. Flanked by Penobscot Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, it is called the Pebble Beach of the East. Fairways are both open and narrow with Bentgrass turf. Once on the green, it's Bentgrass to the cup. Doglegs and bunkers abound. Samoset's signature hole is number four. Greens fees are $48 and carts are $30.
