Heesen’s Aluminum Series launches
In April 2011 Heesen released Air. The following month its first all-aluminum yacht, the 50-meter (164-foot) Satori (above), hit the water for her sea trials. Named for the first step of enlightenment toward Nirvana, she tips the scales at just under 500 gross tons (a key figure in the world of megayacht regulations) and has a top speed of 24 knots (27.6 mph). Her interior features the classic four-stateroom layout on the lower deck and owner’s cabin on the main deck. The Dutch builder has also signed two additional contracts, which brings the number of yachts currently in production to 16 and includes the fourth in its aluminum series.
