World’s 100 Largest Yachts 2007 #9: Pelorus
There's been a lot of talk—and a lot of laughter—about how Pelorus, belonging to Chelsea Football Club owner Roman Abramovich, is equipped with an antimissile system and a submarine to detect limpet mines. From what we can tell, an online magazine writer came up with a highly entertaining, satiric take on a day in the life of Abramovich, and someone, somewhere mistook the piece for reality; the rumor mill and the British tabloids (sometimes one in the same) ensured the veritable snowball of misunderstanding rolled on and on. Something she definitely does have, however: special green lights to make paparazzi-like picture-taking difficult.
