Hatteland Display, a large Norwegian manufacturer with an excellent behind-the-scenes reputation, is going public with its new Series 2 Marine Multi Displays (MMD) and Marine Multi Computers (MMC). The interesting idea here is that interchangeable "backpacks" make identical slim-line screens into either conventional multi-input monitors or compact all-in-one PCs, thus both simplifying the setup of a megayacht glass bridge and future proofing it. The debut line—in 12-, 15-, and 19-inch sizes, plus a head-turning, 32-inch widescreen model—are said to provide "unmatched sun and night vision." All can be bracket- or flush-mounted and feature a stylish, full-glass front. A 19-inch MMD costs about $6,350 and its MMC brother about $9,750. By the way, the resemblance between Series 2 and the elegant monitors seen in Simrad's GB60 system is not at all coincidental.
