America’s 100 Largest Yachts 2006 #11: Attessa
Here’s what fellow yacht owner Wayne Huizenga (see Floridian, no. 10) told Forbes about this lady: “Attessa is a work of art.” She is indeed, especially when you consider what her owner, Dennis Washington, a Montana-based industrialist, had to go through to get her into the shape she’s in now.
Launched as Aviva, the yacht suffered a fire, and the then-owner decided to cut his losses and sell her as is. In stepped Washington, and two years and countless hours of labor later by his staff at Vancouver Shipyards, the Feadship emerged with a blue hull and an extension on the top deck. “I love boats,” Washington told the same Forbes reporter who interviewed Huizenga. “Anything that runs, anything mechanical. It’s my God-given passion in life.”
