Bureau Veritas (one of the classification societies) provides that kind of survey for each flag state giving the status of IMO instruments, surveys and certificates needed for registry.
As you can see there are quite many regulations to be respected. Some of them do not apply to yachts. Many of them must however be respected by the largest commercial yachts - those exceeding 500GT which is normally a yacht around 150 feet and above.
Further on I might add some topics dealing with a couple of regulations of particular interest. I'm thinking of the ISM (International Safety Management) Code, ISPS (International Ships and Port Facility Security) Code and MARPOL (International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships). They concern large commercial yachts like charter yachts and of course the largest yachts certificated as passenger ships.
