A few questions (that I hope will get an answer :)

Perhaps this is not the right part of forum for some questions but since it is the most read part of the forum I'll post them here...

1. I want to make a database of yachts built from 1900 to 1960 (15m/50ft and above but also ships build in that period and now used/converted as yachts) so I was wondering if you nice people could give me links to sites that have that kind of information, if you ever came across something like that. I'm already searching for a couple of weeks now but I'm sure I did not find all that is out there regarding such vessels....

2. In many advertisements regarding yachts for sale, under their pictures it is stated that it's " not for sale to U.S. residents while in U.S. waters ". I have a few ideas why is that so but can someone tell me what does that mean exactly?

3. I got thinking about this when I was reading about the yacht Sans Peur that doesn't exist anymore. What happens when a yacht becomes to old and nobody wants to invest in her refit or when for some reason the yacht becomes unused and it remains that way for years (has this ever happened?). Do yachts go to the scrapyard? Is there a yacht scrapyard?

4. Can someone give me some links of good yacht crew recruiting agencies, needed for some captains seeking a job (preferably European agencies but U.S. are also welcome)? BTW can a captain that has been working on big oil tankers and bulk carriers for more than 25 years become a yacht captain? Can his experience on board merchant vessels be more or less easily applied to yachts?

Thank you for having the time to read this questions and double thanks for answering them ...
