I was wondering whether there is a perspective for more multi-hulled megayachts to be build in the future, given the obvious advantages they have over monohulls concerning stability at bad wheather conditions or the higher speed with lower fuel consumption. Not that fuel prices would be a problem for an owner of a 60 meter yacht anyway but there seem to be designs on the way that do actually point in that direction, Craig Loomes' work in New Zealand for example.
Do you think there will be more yachts like White Rabbit coming up in the future? I heard Loomes Design has completed a design for a 130 meter trimaran wavepiercer... I would love to see how such a behemoth would look like...
The idea of combining volume and performance is about as old as boatbuilding itself. But sometimes the execution just brings the mix to a precise level that will stop you in your tracks. Check out the 26-knot Sunseeker 95, and see how she came about.
