Oops, Sorry Call
it a hit and stop. A Florida Fish and Wildlife officer accidentally
knocked off one of those lovable manatees while on patrol near Brevard
County's Haulover Canal. The officer was exiting a slow-speed zone
when his boat whacked the sea cow. Although Florida doesn't
penalize boaters for striking manatees with their vessels as long
as the boats are operated lawfully, we wonder if the officer gave
himself a stern warning.
This Memorial Day, remember those who were lost serving our country on the high seas in the U.S. Navy aboard PT Boats. Recently we were invited out for a ride on the only operational combat-veteran PT Boat, PT 305 in New Orleans.
