Boat owners in Redondo beach found their boats fished-in by sardines.
Authorities believe one fish followed another into the sheltered water and eventually the large schools of fish were killed by oxygen-depeletion.
Despite being caused by natural causes, the millions of dead sardines join the great mass animal die-off this year.
