Hot Topics In early December several forum members were tracking her first transatlantic crossing, from Gibraltar to the Caribbean. Upon her arrival in Virgin Gorda, one member, szillat (who, conveniently, is from Virgin Gorda), remarked, “Came around the corner of Prickly Pear Island en route to Leverick Bay and thought that a cruise ship was coming across our bow. The lighting on this vessel would challenge any cruise ship.” After taking some pictures and posting a link to them, he inspired the rest of the yacht-spotting community to weigh in with their opinions. Weser, from Germany, commented, “unbelievable pics. It’s not a yacht but a vessel and not comparable to usual recreation yachts.” Not everyone likes Rising Sun’s styling, however. Kevin, a spotter from Canada, remarked, “the ‘greenhouse’ look of the superstructure is just ugh!” Ashoka, from Seattle, posted, “I’m a huge fan of most of Bannenberg’s designs, but this one takes some time to get used to.” But of all the opinions posted, the best comment came from capitan_buzo3, a member from California: “HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!” To read more on this and other topics, visit the Megayachts forum at www.powerandmotoryacht.com.
